Earthquakes measuring 7.7 and 6.6 were recorded near Taiwan on Wednesday, April 3rd. According to the island’s fire department, at least one person died and another 50 were injured.

Both tremors were felt on the islands of Okinawa and Miyako in southern Japan, prompting authorities to issue tsunami alerts.
